HOW TO RENT A CAR IN BARBADOS

So you’ve finally booked your family’s next vacation in Barbados. Great! Next up, making a reservation on your rental car. Before you do, here’s a quick guide on how to rent a car in Barbados, to help you confidently choose and enjoy your rental.

Gather The Details

When and where do you want to rent and return your car?

Choose dates and times that would allow you to easily get to and from your flights. Also, you can choose the airport, pick up from office, delivery to any location on the island. If applicable, ensure flight number and airline is included, so the Apparent team can accommodate any changes or delays.

Which car best suits you?

There are a range of vehicle types on Apparent’s fleet — from small economy cars to full-sized cars. After you’ve selected your dates, you can choose from our vehicle guide. And if you’re traveling with a small child, don’t worry about packing a car seat. You can easily lighten your load by renting one of Apparent’s Child Safety Seats with your vehicle. Select this option in step 3 of Apparent’s reservation process.

What are the requirements?

Consider the age of the driver(s). The minimum age for drivers is 21 years of age. If you are under 25 years old, there may be restrictions or additional fees.

The driver(s) must have a valid drivers license from his or her country of residence. If the driver’s license is not in English, he or she must also bring an international driving permit. In the case of the driver’s license not being Barbados’ Drivers License, a Permit of US$5 is required.

If you need to share driving duties, add an additional driver for US$5 per day. Also ensure each additional driver has met all above requirements.

How well do you know Barbados?

If you know your way around this island well, then you’ll be on your merry way. If not, we recommend Apparent’s GPS navigation devices. You can also purchase a Local SIM with up to 2G of data, and use Google Maps, if you prefer.

Tips for returning

When returning, check that the fuel level is the same as pick-up, take any photos of the body of the car and make sure the vehicle is not soiled, to avoid and extra fees. Also, make sure to collect all of your belongings and throw out any trash before handing in your keys.
